Stop harassing me!

M-logo Mollom

Let's celebrate... this very site you're browsing through and enjoying so much (I hope) is already live for 25 days. Yes! Go, go! Let's party (imagine people getting all enthusiastic, jumping up behind their computer screens and going wild...)!

25 days? So?

Ok, there is a little, tiny chance that you wont stick to the scenario as I imagined and be more like... say... unimpressed? Like, what the hell is 25 days? It's not even a month? It doesn't mean anything, right? Compared to the long life ahead, she's still in her embryonic state, still finding her ways in the World Wide Web (you go my baby!).

Stop harassing me!

So why celebrate? Because today, my precious learned to defend herself! She learned to step up to the bullies who didn't care what's her age; or, how defenseless and insecure she might be; or that she's just playing around to have some fun, unconscious of the fact that some others would like to take advantage of her!

Today, she learned how to defend herself from the evil spambots that pretend to have nice conversations but are only concerned to push their evil message through!

With the help of some friends

Only 25 days old and she already had to swallow some spam, but then she found some friends who helped her getting the evil out of her system. Her newly made friends of Mollom explained her there a two kind of conversations. Genuine ones, also referred to as ham and malicious ones, known as spam.

The lesson learned

First, they taught her to be more skeptical to the messages of others. To screen them first for certain words, combination of words and links. They helped her to distinguish good (ham) from evil (spam). An important lesson everybody has to learn when growing up!

Second, they taught to not get too negative and to remain open minded. When in doubt, it's better to test the person instead of being too defensive and lose an opportunity for conversation. So they designed tests that deal fast with doubts and make it easier for her to think straight and enjoy life to the fullest.

Getting better, all the time

Life is one big learning experience, and everyday is an opportunity to test our judgment. This is the only way to improve over time. So Mollom helps her to learn from her experiences and those of others... so if they make a mistake, they learn from it!

So in the end, nobody can take advantage of her anymore and the bullies are left alone to bully each other!
