Screw iTunes, welcome the revolution!

last-fm

Ah, the Internet (not, the internets), what a wonderful place to be! Laid back, without ever have to leave your comfortable chair, you'll find all the information you'll ever need.

Don't feel like doing some important stuff? Need a break? Don't move, stick to your chair! Just hang around the Internet some more and talk to your friends on myspace, Facebook and the likes! There are loads of places to hang out, and loads of people to have fun with!

Social networking incorporated

Ah, the social networking sites, there are so many of them. Most are just cheap replicas of the popular ones. You can spend hours chatting with your friends (this is Mark, never met him, never talked to him, who is he?), playing some stupid games, seeing pics, getting updates about your friends' lives ("... is having pancakes for breakfast" who cares?) and more, much more. I think it's the most effective way (and probably the most efficient too) to waste your time!

So, as you may be guessing, I'm not such a fan of these social networks. Though, it seems almost compulsory to sign up to them, I mean, everybody else is doing so (I just realized I have to reconsider my self image of being unaffected by group pressure!). There are just too many of these sites, asking for too much of my scarce time and even more created every day.

So what a surprise to find myself being exited and enthusiastic when coming across a social network. Very strange to have these emotions, I mean, I used to have those feelings all the time, but now, it's just plain old song, all over again...

Bye bye iTunes...

My feelings were so strong, it even changed my beliefs, emotions and attitude towards an other product. Feelings I thought could never be changed. I'm talking about iTunes (together with it's companion iPod) which I adore so much, until recently, that is.

Talking about a revolution...

So Toon (that's me), tell me, what the hell are you talking about?! Well, thank you for asking (I thought you never would)! I'm talking about some self proclaimed revolutionaries! Not the ones that take up arms, kill and destroy; but some with a more gentle way of pushing forth their ideas.

You may be as skeptical as me when somebody claims to be revolutionary. It's an over abused word, mostly used to market something that lacks the very essence of a revolution. Like having some radical new thoughts or changing the way people do stuff or view things.

So this 'thing' had to bypass 'some' initial skepticism which it did with ease. This off course fuelled my enthusiasm even more! I'm talking about the social music revolution, ignited by last-fm, powered by Audioscrobbler!

Like I said before, I don't like to waste my time at social networking sites. So I try to strictly limit my trips to them. But then along came last-fm and now I'm hooked! It's such a great place to enjoy music and discover many new, never heard of bands and tracks. It's the closest to music heaven! It's less bullshitting and chitchatting, it's more enjoying and discovering! It's just... great (yes, I'm getting speechless)!

So my friends, if you're bored (even if you're not), come over to last-fm and enjoy music together! We even can make new friends, discuss all sorts of things, even chitchat all night long, see pics and videos, and basically, stay updated about our friends' lives...

...welcome to the revolution...
